Preparation:

1. Start by taking a glass of milk and mix in the cornstarch. Keep it aside for now.
2. Now, heat the remaining milk in a saucepan. It’s about to get steamy!
3. In a separate bowl, crack those eggs open and throw in the sugar and vanilla. Whisk away! Gradually add the milk-cornstarch mixture to it, ensuring you get a smooth concoction.
4. Time to merge the two! Pour this mixture back into the heated milk. Now, this step needs your full attention – stir it continuously over medium heat. We wouldn’t want it to burn now, would we? As the cream thickens, give yourself a pat on the back and remove it from the stove. Spread it on a plate to cool it down and cover with some cling film. This prevents it from developing that unappetizing skin.
5. Preheat your oven to a fiery 428°F (220°C).
