María Branyas Morera is officially the oldest person in the world in 2023. This American-Spanish woman celebrated her 116th birthday on March 4, an exceptional age which far exceeds the average life expectancy of human beings.

Rare longevity
People who reach or exceed the age of 110 are called supercentenarians. In France, the average life expectancy is 79.2 years for men and 85.3 years for women according to INED. Women generally live longer than men, with an average gap of 5.4 years globally.
