In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with 1/4 cup of the brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of the ground cinnamon. Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

In another bowl, mix the flour, oats, remaining 3/4 cup of brown sugar, remaining 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, and salt. Add in the cubed cold butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix everything together until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples in the baking dish, covering them completely.
