Butter Piped Cookies: A Classic American Treat

Ingredients:
– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (226g)
– 3/4 cup granulated sugar (150g)
– 1 large egg yolk
– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 2 cups + 2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour (265g)

1. First, preheat your oven to 375F (190C) to get it nice and toasty for baking.
2. In a large bowl or with a stand mixer, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until it’s super creamy and well-combined.

3. Add the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and salt and beat it all together until it’s super smooth. Make sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl to get all the ingredients well incorporated.
4. With the mixer on low speed, gradually add the flour until it’s totally combined. Give it one last stir, scraping the sides and bottom of the bowl.
